We have just received a very exciting e-mail from one of our active hams in Romania, Mihaj (“Mike”) Enea, YO8CYN.  Here is his letter, slightly edited, and a couple of pictures.  If you are able to respond to his appeal for radio equipment, please contact us and we will find a way to get it there. – Jim, KW8T

It is my pleasure to greet you with the peace of God from Romanian lands. I believe that nothing and no one can take away the joy that we have in our Lord and I believe with all my heart that very soon we will have the opportunity to stand with our Savior. [I pray to the] Lord to give you help and wisdom you need to coordinate the work of the association and subsequent years, perhaps until His return.

Since my last message to you, the Lord has helped us in the amateur radio activity in Romania. Several years we have organized camps for children and youth of our church where we had a special radio class. I found many young people interested in the radio, I made the necessary preparations to teach the necessary legislation for authorization of ham radio and three weeks ago a number of 4 Pathfinder instructors and 15 children and youth have amateur exam and the Lord helped us all to obtain permits. We also created a radio club YO8KZE (http://www.radioamator.exploratori.ro/ - It is only in Romanian, but you can see some photos of our activities by clicking the right side of the page). In July we have another radio camp with over 100 children. We made the necessary antennas (2 vertical delta loop from fishing pole, hex beam and inverted V for 80 and 40 meters ). Our great pain is that radio stations in Romania prices are too high for our possibility. My salary is about $250 (working as a volunteer in the prisons in our area) and my 3 children are students and the fees are quite high. Here in Romania we are unable to buy radio stations. So please if you can talk with our brothers and other amateurs, may give a notice on the site if anyone has the possibility to help our children and our club with some station for shortwave and VHF . We need radio stations for our club and children because this summer we start a partnership with ADRA and emergency department for action in case of disaster. All children from  our radio club pray for the Lord to work and give us the necessary equipment. And maybe that will work from our brothers and amateurs from America.

We apologize for the courage to directly address our needs. Lord grant you the choicest blessings, health, happiness and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Greetings from Romania and again, God bless you.

73 de Mike, YO8CYN, director assistant from YO8KZE.
